Protest at the Governor’s Mansion, 12/12 from 12-1 PM

The CDC Evictions Moratorium is set to expire at the end of the calendar year. People in Indiana are still being evicted, and the eviction crisis is only going to get worse. Experts estimate that 42% of all renters in Indiana could face eviction when the CDC moratorium ends; in Indianapolis alone, researchers predict that over 30,000 people will face eviction in January 2021. The Governor recently acknowledged that Indiana is in a public health emergency. This acknowledgment needs to extend to protecting the ability of Hoosiers to remain housed. Representatives of DSA chapters across Indiana alongside the Party for Socialism and Liberation are gathering on Saturday to demand that Governor Holcomb govern for the many Hoosiers across the state by canceling rent through the pandemic.

Central Indiana Democratic Socialists of America is an organization that believes that both the economy and government should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.
