DESCRIPTION:Did you know Indy has an “Inclusion Ecosystem?” Indy corporate leaders promised to pay workers $18 an hour back in 2018. In doing so they were praised as good wage employers and received millions in city incentives\, but they excluded low wage service workers. It’s about 7 years later and that $18 an hour would be $23 an hour in 2025. And yet\, some service workers at Indy “good wage” employers are still making a measly $13.65 an hour. DESCRIPTION:Please take a look at the readings found here to prepare for the session: Fascism and the American Right\, DSA-NPEC \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRSVP Here \n\n\n\n\nThis event will by hybrid\, with both in-person and Zoom options \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe concepts of a political “Right” and “Left” date back to the French Revolution\, where the seating arrangements in the National Assembly corresponded to ideological affiliations. In the right wing of the chamber sat supporters of the ancien regime of monarchy and feudalism\, and the left wing represented those in favor of a republic and capitalism. Although the political moment of 1789 has long passed\, the terminology about alignment\, broadly about reactionaries to radicals\, continues to be a mainstay in political discourse. What it means to be Right Wing or Left Wing is redefined in the environment of each era\, but the common thread of conflicting over tradition\, egalitarianism\, and liberties persist throughout generations.
